Bahraini builders 'must be given priority for local projects'
MANAMA, September 22, 2014
Bahraini contractors should be given priority in carrying out government projects as long as this does not conflict with working laws, the Premier said.
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa was chairing the Cabinet session at Gudaibiya Palace in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
The Premier urged officials to quickly remove obstacles hindering implementation of government projects in Muharraq, particularly public service-related ones, including those he had instructed officials to complete during his last field visit to the area, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.
It was necessary for government bodies concerned to ensure that contractors, who were granted their tenders, fulfill all requirements, especially with regard to conditions of employment, the Premier said.
The Cabinet then congratulated His Majesty King Hamad on being granted an award by the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding in recognition of his landmark contributions to promoting meaningful dialogue among religions and cultures.
The Premier also paid tribute to His Majesty for his statement in response to a letter from the Crown Prince, underlining the government's pledge to follow all instructions from the King.
He also instructed Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa to facilitate Bahraini pilgrims' needs and procedures.
The Cabinet also discussed several memoranda on its agenda.-TradeArabia News Service
