Second Trump golf course planned in Dubai
DUBAI, September 20, 2014
Luxury real estate developer Damac plans to develop a second golf course and related facilities in Dubai, UAE, for the Trump Organisation.
The Trump World Golf Club Dubai will be set within Damac’s new 55 million-sq-ft master development, Akoya Oxygen in Dubailand. The 18-hole championship-standard course will include a state-of-the-art club house, world-class restaurants and pro shop.
It is the second development for the Trump Organisation in Dubai, following the Trump International Golf Club at Akoya by Damac, which was launched in May last year and is due to open in late 2015.
Trump World Golf Club Dubai marks the 18th golf course in the Trump Organisation’s portfolio which also includes the legendary Trump Turnberry in Scotland, Trump National Doral in Miami and Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles, both in the US, and the Trump International Golf Links, Ireland.
The designer of the course will be announced in the coming weeks.
“This golf course will complement the ethos of Akoya Oxygen, as the greenest and most lush living environment anywhere in the region,” remarked Ziad El Chaar, the managing director of Damac Properties.
"The Trump Organisation is renowned as the best golf course owners and operators in the world and will deliver the highest quality service to players coming to enjoy Dubai’s great climate and Akoya Oxygen’s great facilities," he added.
His comments came ahead of the Cityscape Global exhibition, which was inaugurated today in Dubai by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, head of Dubai’s Supreme Fiscal Committee and chairman and chief executive of Emirates airline and group, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
A total of 280 exhibitors from 28 countries will show off their developments at the exhibition, which ends on Tuesday, September 23.
Dubai is one of the favoured golfing destinations in the world, according to KMPG, which rates the emirate as the sixth most popular location for golfers.
“I have been hugely impressed with the quality and professionalism of everything in Dubai and it was a natural progression to bring another world-class course to the emirate,” said Donald Trump, the chairman and president of The Trump Organisation. “The Trump World Golf Club Dubai will complement the Trump International Golf Club and its residential component perfectly and elevate Dubai’s already strong golf industry to the highest levels of luxury.”
Ground has already been broken at Akoya Oxygen with the course is set to open by the end of 2017.
Akoya Oxygen is located in the heart of Dubailand, a 10-minute drive from Akoya by Damac.
The project will include green open spaces, organic market stalls, and a wide array of relaxing and healing environments, to create the greenest living experience in the region. It also includes a desert-style wellness centre, retail brands, and leisure and entertainment offerings all in a holistic environment. -TradeArabia News Service
