Safety standards in built environment in focus

Kuwait, August 28, 2014

The safety standards and practices in the build environment will be the focus of a conference to be held in Kuwait next month.

The Safety Design in Buildings conference campaign is a GCC-wide initiative to debate the issue and it will take place at the Crowne Plaza on September 15.

Experts, including fire consultants, facade designers, testing experts and safety system suppliers, will offer insights through presentations and panel discussions for an improved protection of people and assets in the Gulf, said a statement.

They will give an update on industry standards and providing a debate platform for trends and development.

The current cycle of events investigates evacuation strategies, material and safety system requirements for high occupancy buildings, which are constantly challenged by the ambitious infrastructure development in the GCC, it said.

The sessions will include ‘Fire and Facades - the Essential Elements’; ‘Optimization of Intumescent (Fire Resistance) Coatings using Structural Analysis’; ‘Access Control & Egress Planning’; ‘Moving Safety Considerations from High-Rise to Super-Tall Buildings’; ‘Inspection, testing and maintenance of fire safety systems’; ‘Ensuring Safe Evacuation - the Next Steps’; and a panel discussion on ’The next level of Safety Specification Standards.’ - TradeArabia News Service
