179 houses construction to start in Bahrain

Manama, July 14, 2014

Bahrain's Prime Minister has directed officials to start building 179 housing units in Arad, which is part of the second phase of a project in which 140 units have already been completed.

He also issued directives to study plans for a housing project east of Muharraq, instead of the old one, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa directed officials to distribute housing units to beneficiaries in the completed projects in Zallaq, Hunainiya, Jaw and Askar, without delay.

This came as he chaired yesterday the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet agreed to drop unsettled electricity and water arrears and municipal fees on some dead customers, and requested the Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry and the Electricity and Water Authority to co-ordinate regarding financial exemptions.

They should also co-ordinate with the Finance Ministry concerning the consolidated financial statements of government bodies.

The Cabinet endorsed a draft resolution enabling the Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs to issue edicts exempting the dead from unpaid electricity, water and municipality fees. - TradeArabia News Service
