Bahrain unveils key power grid plan

Manama, June 28, 2014

The Bahrain Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has allocated BD21 million ($54.3 million) to plug loopholes in the country's power grid and strengthen the distribution network.

“The money will be used to construct 11 main distribution stations and 180 substations,” Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs Dr Abdulhussain Mirza said in an interview with Akhbar Al Khaleej editor-in-chief Anwar Abdulrahman.

He announced that all logistic measures have been taken to address any power outage during Ramadan and summer and restore electricity quickly.

For this purpose, the number of emergency generators has been increased to 294.-TradeArabia News Service
