Ajman, May 24, 2010
Sweet Homes Holdings (SHH), a leading UAE-based developer and real estate services provider, has unveiled a Dh149 million ($40.6 million) shopping mall within its Dh2.2 billion multi-use Ajman Uptown project.
The luxury retail establishment, which has a total built-up area of 78,387.22 sq m, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2012.
Sweet Homes General Contracting (SHGC), the in-house contracting arm of Sweet Homes Group and the main contractor for the Ajman Uptown project, is also in-charge of the main construction works on the mall, which has already witnessed the start of the shoring and excavation phase.
Construction of the B+G+4+HC mall has started, with all building permits and licenses already granted approval by the Municipality of Ajman, a statement said.
Upon completion, the retail centre will cater to the shopping needs of a wide range of customer groups, from families to young professionals with a total of 182 shops, a hypermarket, cinemas, a gymnasium and a host of coffee shops and food establishments within a food court.
It will also house a Fun City indoor amusement centre and offer convenience with 429 parking slots for shoppers.
The mall joins a host of amenities within Ajman Uptown including a healthcare centre, a fire fighting station, two mosques, a health and recreation club, a swimming pool, markets, hotel and hotel apartments, and convenient and spacious parks.
“The near completion of this new shopping centre in Ajman Uptown signals an exciting new retail destination not only for the tenants but the entire Ajman populace,” said Fahad Sattar Dero, CEO, Sweet Homes Holdings.
“Its convenient location along the Emirates Road also makes the mall highly accessible to people from Dubai, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and nearby districts - Humria Freezone, and Sharjah Industrial Investment Park, which will underline the broad appeal of Ajman Uptown not only as a residential development but also as a leisure hub,” he added.
SHGC has also awarded two important sub-contracts for the villas - one to Al Ibhar Electrical Contracting and Elegant Electromechanical Contracting as the MEP, air conditioning and fire fighting sub-contractor; and another to Liwa Building Contracting as the civil sub-contractor.
At present, construction continues on a 24/7 basis, with a total of 2,000 labourers working in different shifts in an effort to meet the project’s scheduled delivery date, according to the statement.
“Construction work on the Ajman Uptown development is proceeding 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure its completion within its stipulated schedule,” Dero said.
“We have full confidence in our staff of experienced engineers and a sizeable labour count, as well as our construction partners to facilitate fast-tracked progress for this project,” he concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
