Bahrain air base infrastructure work on track

All infrastructure and road works at Bahrain’s Sakhir Air Base, including asphalting, implementation of rainwater network, the construction of runways, in addition to other construction works, are on track, said a top government official.
Undersecretary of Public Works Affairs at the Ministry of Works, Nayef Omar Al-Kalali, recently inspected the progress at Sakhir Air Base. The visit came as part of the Ministry’s preparations for Bahrain International Air Show, which is to take place from January 21 to 23.
As part of the construction works involved in the project, 144 thousand cubic metres of sand was removed and more than 484 thousand cubic metres was used for reclamation works.
According to the Undersecretary, asphalting works were carried out using the latest technologies in the field, which was crucial to achieving high quality work in a timely manner.
The project contractor is currently carrying out cleaning works at the location, prior to the official opening of the site, said a statement.
The project has been designed and supervised by Hyder Consulting, while contracting works were assigned to Haji Hassan Al A’Ali Contracting Group. Infrastructure works were implemented at a cost of BD5.78 million ($15.4 million). – TradeArabia News Service
