Real estate training drive

Dubai, October 13, 2007

The Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI) will offer special value packages to applicants registering at Cityscape Dubai 2007 for its Executive Training Programmes.

The programmes are starting next month.

DREI, the region’s first academic institute for real estate studies, will participate for the first time in the region’s premier property investment and development event to be held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from October 16 to 18.

Applicants can register for its programmes at the DREI stand F50 Hall 2.

Institute officials will be on hand to offer information and guidance on the course content.

The special value package will extend to programmes on ‘Real estate as an investment asset’ and ‘International real estate investment’, both offered in partnership with the Reading University in the UK. The ‘Successful real estate development’ programme is offered in cooperation with the National University of Singapore.

DREI is also the headline sponsor for the Cityscape Architectural Review Awards (CARA) for 2007, to be given away on October 16. The gala award night, a key feature of Cityscape Dubai 2007, is built around the theme, ‘Design for an Emerging World’.

Dr Mohammed Al Shehhi, managing director of DREI, will present the award to the winner in the ‘Tourism, Travel and Transport Category – Future’ category.

Cityscape and the internationally acclaimed publication, The Architectural Review, have teamed up for the fourth year to organise CARA 2007 – the most prestigious architectural awards platform for the emerging world.

Dr Al Shehhi said: “Our debut participation at Cityscape Dubai 2007 will give us an opportunity to interact closely with prospective students as well as potential clients and to express our commitment to the advancement of the industry. Cityscape Dubai is an excellent platform to network with the industry’s key investors, developers and experts.

“The Cityscape Review Awards is considered a significant event in the global calendar for architecture, and we are proud to be associated with such a prestigious event.”

DREI is committed to developing the next generation of leaders with the ability to shape the direction of real estate business in the future. It also aims to provide educational and professional development support to executives and professionals in the real estate sector.

As the first specialised real estate academic institution in the region, the Dubai Real Estate Institute aims to enrich and broaden the knowledge and competency base of real estate industry professionals and managers.

The institute, which will commence courses in the academic year 2007-2008, operates in partnership with several international real estate universities to provide high value learning experiences to its students.

Addressing strategic growth opportunities, competitive challenges and operational imperatives of the real estate industry in the Mena region, Asia, and Turkey, the institute will offer graduate programmes as well as professional development courses.

These courses will focus on real estate development processes, asset and portfolio management, real estate valuation and appraisal, real estate finance and investment, international real estate, risk management, real estate law, urban economics and project management.
