UAE cbank deposits reach $15 billion in Q1

ABU DHABI, April 18, 2018

Monetary deposits at the UAE Central Bank stood at Dh55.8 billion ($15.2 billion) in the first quarter of 2018 while withdrawals reached about Dh55 billion, according to the figures released by the UAE Central Bank yesterday (April 17).

Value of deposits in banknotes was Dh55.78 billion against Dh23 million for currency in coins, reported Emirates news agency Wam, citing Central Bank data.

"Monetary deposits were valued at Dh19.1 billion in March up 25.6 percent over February while January remained the most active in the deposit trends with Dh21.5 billion," according to the figures.

Withdrawals increased 19.7 per cent in January to Dh19.53 billion as compared to February, the figures showed.

Deposits and withdrawals usually signify the level of activity of the national economy during a specific period.
