Thomson Reuters to host Mena IFR awards

Thomson Reuters, a leading source of intelligent information for businesses and professionals, is set to host its first Mena International Financing Review (IFR) Awards in Dubai on March 31.
The awards are aimed at promoting best practice and contributing to capital markets excellence, said a statement.
The categories include ‘Investment Bank of the Year’; ‘Regional Investment Bank of the Year’; ‘Issuer of the Year’; ‘Deal of the Year’; and ‘Islamic Deal of the Year.’
Matthew Davies, the editor of IFR, said: “We are seeking to honour those institutions that have achieved excellence in the Middle East’s capital markets throughout 2013 with the introduction of the IFR Middle East Awards.”
The debt issuance in the region last year totaled to $38.6 billion, with UAE accounting for two-fifths of this activity and ranked top of active nations for DCM activity followed by Saudi Arabia with 22 per cent, according to Thomson Reuters’ ‘Middle Eastern Investment Banking Analysis.’
