Oman Insurance Company gets new chief

Dubai, November 1, 2008

The board of directors of Oman Insurance Company has promoted Abdul Muttalib as the new chief executive officer.

Muttablib began his career with the Oman Insurance Company upon its establishment in 1975 and has most recently served as the company’s general manager, overseeing the launch of several new insurance products in the Middle East region.

He has also been responsible for the successful first phase implementation of the company’s regional expansion plans, opening offices in Oman and Qatar.

Commenting on the appointment, Matar Humaid Al Tayer, chariman of Oman Insurance Company, said that he expected Muttablib would continue to work to raise the standards of insurance provision in the region.

"Muttalib has a long and distinguished career with Oman Insurance Company and his in-depth market expertise and commitment to quality make him well equipped to achieve results in his new role," Al Tayer said.

"The Board of Directors is very pleased with Muttalib’s commitment to the financial success of the organisation through its commitment to serving customer needs, he added.

Oman Insurance Company enjoyed a third quarter growth of 53 per cent in 2008 when compared to the same period last year with strong results across all fields.

The company also enjoys an excellent rating from AM Best and A- from Standard & Poors.-TradeArabia News Service
