AMPO Poyam Valves secures Aramco project supply contract

Spanish valve manufacturer AMPO Poyam Valves has been awarded a key contract to supply 18 check and globe valves for the CRPO 147/157 offshore development, a key project of Saudi oil giant Aramco, at the Zuluf field. The order was placed by Lamprell, the EPCI (engineering, procurement, construction and installation) contractor for the project.

The Aramco CRPO 147/157 project, which comes under its offshore Long-Term Agreement (LTA) programme, covers EPCI work for a 60-km-long and 48-inch trunkline at the Zuluf offshore field in addition to related onshore dredging works. Lamprell extended its offshore LTA with Aramco in 2025.

The pipes, to be supplied, come in 30-inch, 36-inch and 48-inch sizes, all rated to pressure Class 1500, said the Spanish group in a statement.

The valves are made of carbon steel with a weld overlay of Inconel 625, a corrosion-resistant nickel alloy suited to harsh offshore trunkline service.

One of the largest offshore oil fields in the region, Zuluf lies about 40 km off Saudi Arabia’s north-eastern coast in the Arabian Gulf. Aramco is expanding the field under its Zuluf Arab Heavy development programme, which is designed to add 600,000 barrels per day of Arab Heavy crude.

The Spanish valve manufacturer said this was its second Zuluf contract win this year. In August, its Saudi subsidiary AMPO Arabia had snapped up an order from CAT Group for 1,200 valves for the same programme. Those valves will be made at its plant in Dammam 2nd Industrial City, and it is the largest single order the plant has received.

The 48-inch Class 1500 unit is the largest valve of its kind AMPO has ever supplied, and some of the valves weigh more than 60 tonnes each, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
