AMPO POYAM VALVES has secured a contract to supply more than 600 cryogenic ball valves for ADNOC’s Ruwais LNG project in Abu Dhabi, a major lower-carbon LNG development in the Middle East.
The valves, ranging from 3 to 24 inches, will be installed
across the onshore liquefaction facilities serving the project’s two LNG
trains.
The order strengthens AMPO POYAM VALVES’ presence in the
Middle Eastern LNG market and builds on its long-standing expertise in
cryogenic valve technology.
Located in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Ruwais LNG is being
developed by ADNOC under an engineering, procurement and construction contract
awarded to Technip Energies, which leads the TJN Ruwais joint venture alongside
JGC and NMDC Energy.
The facility will comprise two natural gas liquefaction
trains with a combined production capacity of 9.6 million tonnes per annum
(Mtpa).
Once operational, it is expected to become the first LNG
export facility in the Middle East and North Africa to use electrically driven
motors powered by clean energy rather than conventional gas turbines.
The power configuration is designed to significantly reduce
the facility’s carbon intensity, positioning Ruwais LNG among the world’s
lower-carbon-intensity LNG projects.
AMPO POYAM VALVES has manufactured cryogenic ball valves
since 1986 and has supplied equipment for LNG projects across the United
States, Qatar, Australia, Asia and Europe.
The company said its decades of experience in cryogenic
applications provide the engineering capabilities needed to ensure reliable
performance under the extreme temperatures and demanding operating conditions
of LNG facilities.
The Ruwais LNG award adds to AMPO’s international project
portfolio while supporting ADNOC’s strategy to expand LNG production capacity
and develop lower-carbon energy infrastructure.
The project is expected to play a significant role in strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position in the global LNG market while advancing efforts to reduce emissions associated with LNG production. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
