Oman’s oil production rose 11.9 per cent year-on-year to 270 million barrels by the end of August 2026, up from 241.4 million barrels during the same period last year, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
Oil exports increased 1.9 per cent to 209 million barrels,
compared with 205 million barrels a year earlier.
Average daily oil production also climbed 10.9 per cent to
1.1 million barrels per day, from 993,300 barrels per day in the corresponding
period of 2025.
On a monthly basis, Oman produced 36.3 million barrels of
oil in August, compared with 35.8 million barrels in July and 34.4 million
barrels in June.
Oil exports reached 27.1 million barrels in August, up from
26.7 million barrels in July and 25.7 million barrels in June.
The average price of Oman crude increased 15.5 per cent
during the January-August period to $83.3 per barrel, compared with $72.1 per
barrel a year earlier.
However, the monthly average price fell sharply to $79.1 per
barrel in August from $102 per barrel in July, representing a 22.5 per cent
decline.
Meanwhile, Oman’s natural gas sector recorded continued
growth.
Total domestic gas production and imports rose 6.4 per cent
year-on-year to 40.5 billion cubic metres by the end of August, compared with
38.1 billion cubic metres in the same period of 2025.
Gas consumption at power generation plants increased 13.8
per cent to 11.7 billion cubic metres, while consumption by industrial projects
rose 4.9 per cent to 19.9 billion cubic metres. Gas use in oil fields also
edged up 1.5 per cent to 8.7 billion cubic metres.
In contrast, gas consumption in industrial zones fell 32.6 per cent to 126 million cubic metres, compared with 186.9 million cubic metres during the corresponding period last year. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
