The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (Sewa) has announced that it has completed work on a 33-kilovolt electricity distribution station in Khorfakkan at a total cost of AED35 million ($9.5 million).

The project was implemented according to approved technical specifications and standards and is designed to improve the reliability and capacity of the electricity network, SEWA said.

According to Sewa, the distribution station has a capacity of 60 megavolt-amperes and will primarily supply power to Khorfakkan Resort, supporting the operation of its facilities.

Khorfakkan, located on the UAE’s eastern coast, has seen increased tourism and urban development in recent years, with the new station intended to support current and future demand for electricity.

Saud Abdulaziz, the director of Sewa’s Khorfakkan Department, said the station was built to meet the city’s growing electricity needs amid urban and tourism development.

The new distribution station will also serve surrounding urban areas and planned future developments in the city, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
