The Ministry of Youth of Jordan, Amideast, Boeing and industry partners have celebrated the graduation of 57 young professionals from the fourth cohort of the ‘Careers in Aviation’ initiative, with 58% already securing employment or internships in Jordan’s aviation sector.

The six-month programme, designed for participants aged 18 to 35, aims to strengthen the country’s aviation workforce by providing practical training aligned with industry needs.

Since its launch in 2023, 240 Jordanians have graduated from the initiative, with 60% securing employment or internship opportunities in aviation to date.

“The ‘Careers in Aviation’ programme is in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, which place young people at the heart of Jordan’s national modernisation efforts”, said His Excellency Dr. Raed Al Adwan, Minister of Youth of Jordan. “The programme demonstrates the value of partnership in developing young people’s capabilities and equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to enter the labour market and strengthen their professional readiness. The Ministry of Youth is committed to supporting programmes that provide young people with practical pathways to training, professional development and integration into the job market.”

Participants trained across three career pathways: Airport Services, Engineering and Cabin Crew.

The programme was developed with Airport International Group, Joramco and Royal Jordanian Airlines to reflect current workforce requirements.

Among the participants, 18 enrolled in the Airport Services track and received specialised training through the Royal Jordanian Air Academy, contributing to a high rate of immediate employment.

Beyond technical aviation skills and field visits, the programme included English-language training, digital literacy and employability skills to help participants prepare for careers in the sector.

“Through our collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Amideast/Jordan, we have developed a clear pathway that guides young people from an initial interest in aviation to professional success through our ‘Careers in Aviation’ programme”, said Fahad Al Mheiri, Boeing president for the Middle East and North Africa. “Seeing graduates secure real jobs in a competitive sector like aviation is a powerful testament to the calibre of talent in Jordan and the transformative impact of industry-aligned training”.

Amideast said the initiative is designed to create longer-term links between young Jordanians and the country’s aviation industry by combining training, industry exposure and employment opportunities.

“The lasting impact of ‘Careers in Aviation’ is not measured only by the number of young people who complete the programme but by the opportunities that remain open to them afterward”, said Nour Alrasheed, country director of Amideast/Jordan. “Over four years, our partnership with Boeing, the Ministry of Youth and Jordan’s aviation industry has built a bridge between young talent and real workforce needs, bringing training, industry exposure and employment opportunities together. Seeing graduates move into the sector is what gives this partnership its value, and what makes its impact extend well beyond the programme itself”.

Support for graduates who have not yet secured opportunities will continue through career counselling and professional guidance, with partners seeking to help them transition into Jordan’s aviation workforce. -TradeArabia News Service
