Ebara Elliott Energy (EEE) has secured a milestone contract from Chart Ferox, a subsidiary of Baker Hughes’ Chart Industries, to supply a specialised liquid hydrogen (LH2) pump system for an advanced hydrogen refuelling trailer.
The contract marks EEE’s commercial entry into the liquid
hydrogen aviation infrastructure market.
The engineered pump will be integrated into a
high-performance refuelling trailer developed by Chart Ferox and is scheduled
to undergo testing in Bristol, UK, later in 2028.
The project supports Chart Ferox’s role as a partner in the
GOLIAT (Ground Operations of Liquid hydrogen Aircraft) project, a European
consortium coordinated by Airbus and comprising 15 EU partners.
Supported through the EU’s Horizon Europe framework, GOLIAT
aims to develop and demonstrate high-flow LH2 handling and refuelling
technologies for future large commercial aircraft ground operations.
Chart Ferox selected EEE for the project’s virtual-pipeline
trailer technology, citing the company’s hydrogen engineering capabilities and
technical support.

Initial engineering and design validation for the LH2 pump
system is already underway, with equipment due to be delivered to Chart Ferox
in the Czech Republic.
The refuelling trailer will subsequently be tested in
Bristol, where the technology will support GOLIAT’s efforts to advance liquid
hydrogen ground-handling capabilities for aviation.
The project is part of wider efforts to develop infrastructure capable of supporting hydrogen-powered aircraft and the aviation sector’s long-term emissions reduction goals. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
