A medical team at King Salman Medical City (KSMC) in Madinah, part of Madinah Health Cluster, has successfully performed a specialised spinal surgery using endoscopic technology on a woman in her thirties.

The procedure is part of ongoing efforts to develop surgical services and adopt modern minimally invasive techniques to improve treatment outcomes and accelerate patient recovery, a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report said.

KSMC explained that endoscopic technology allows surgeons to operate through small incisions using a camera and precision surgical instruments to access the affected area. This approach minimises the impact on surrounding tissues and muscles compared with traditional open surgery.

Helping reduce postoperative pain

The medical city noted that the technique may help reduce postoperative pain and blood loss, shorten hospital stays, and enable patients to regain mobility and resume daily activities sooner. These benefits depend on the nature of each case and the medical team's assessment. It added that the operation was completed successfully without complications, and the patient experienced a noticeable improvement in symptoms following surgery.—TradeArabia News Service
