Axens has been selected by Canada-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel producer Expander Energy to provide its advanced FT Liquid Upgrading technology for biofuel projects.
The technology will support the production of drop-in,
second-generation biofuels from cellulosic feedstock through Expander’s
patented Enhanced Biomass to Liquids (EBTL) and Biomass Electrolysis to Liquids
(BETL) processes.
The technology is expected to be deployed initially at two
commercial developments in Canada: the Wheatland Bio-Synfuels Facility near
Calgary, Alberta, and the Mackenzie Biomass Derived E-Fuels Facility in
northern British Columbia.
Both projects are progressing through regulatory and
financing milestones, with final investment decisions targeted for December
2026.
Expander has also selected Axens as its strategic upgrading
technology provider for a wider portfolio of SAF and Arctic renewable diesel
developments, strengthening the companies’ collaboration on commercially viable
pathways to lower-carbon fuels. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
