The number of new economic licences issued to Emirati businesswomen in Abu Dhabi rose 6.4% in the first half of 2026, highlighting the growing role of women entrepreneurs in the emirate’s economy.

According to data from the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA), 3,058 new licences were issued to Emirati businesswomen during H1 2026, up from 2,873 licences in the same period last year.

The licences covered a broad range of business activities and categories, including Standard, Tajer Abu Dhabi, and Freelance licences, reflecting the diversity of entrepreneurial activity among Emirati women.

ADRA also reported continued growth in Mobdea licences, which increased 10.1% during the first half of 2026. This follows a significant 33% increase recorded in Mobdea licences during 2025.

The authority said the growth reflects the increasing contribution of Emirati businesswomen to strengthening the competitiveness of Abu Dhabi’s economy.

The rise in new licences comes as Abu Dhabi continues to expand opportunities for entrepreneurship and business ownership, with simplified licensing options designed to support different types of economic activity, including small businesses, freelancers and emerging entrepreneurs. -TradeArabia News Service
