SAR Gruppen and TWMA have signed an agreement to strengthen drilling waste management services for operators on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, with TWMA set to install its RotoMill technology at SAR Gruppen’s facility in Risavika, Tananger.

The installation will increase the facility’s processing capacity by up to 50 per cent, providing greater flexibility to handle drilling waste volumes from offshore operations.

The unit will be integrated into SAR Gruppen’s existing treatment infrastructure and is expected to become operational later this month.

The agreement will also create an integrated drill cuttings handling service, combining the companies’ capabilities to streamline the movement of waste from offshore rigs to the Risavika facility.

Drill cuttings can be transferred directly into the treatment process without intermediate lifting operations, reducing handling stages, vessel turnaround times and overall operational complexity.

The collaboration comes as activity on the Norwegian Continental Shelf remains strong.

The Norwegian Offshore Directorate expects around 40 exploration wells to be drilled in 2026, while Statistics Norway forecasts oil and gas investment of NOK 266 billion ($28 billion).

The partners said the agreement will strengthen local waste treatment infrastructure while giving offshore operators access to more flexible, efficient and reliable drilling waste management capacity.
