Saudi Arabia’s Al Henakiyah (1) Solar PV Plant, part of the Kingdom’s National Renewable Energy Programme supervised and implemented by the Ministry of Energy, has a capacity of 1,100 MW, enough to supply electricity to approximately 190,000 homes annually.
Located south of Al Henakiyah Governorate in the Madinah
Region, the solar project began commercial operations in summer 2025.
The electricity produced by the plant is purchased at a
competitive tariff of 1.6842 US cents per kilowatt-hour, reflecting the
Kingdom’s progress in achieving cost-effective renewable energy generation
aligned with global standards.
The project represents a key step in Saudi Arabia’s efforts
to expand renewable energy deployment, advance energy storage solutions,
support the Liquid Fuel Displacement Program, and contribute to emissions
reduction targets.
As part of the fourth
phase of the National Renewable Energy Programme, Al Henakiyah (1) supports
Saudi Vision 2030’s goal of increasing renewable energy and storage
contributions to around 50 per cent of the electricity generation mix by 2030,
