The Emirates Group has received the UAE’s highest recognition for corporate sustainability, earning the Platinum Impact Seal Award 2025–2027 from the UAE National CSR Fund, Majra, for the second time.
The award recognises organisations demonstrating outstanding
environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and measurable impact
aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the UAE’s national
priorities.
The accolade was presented by UAE Minister of Economy and
Tourism Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri to Emirates Deputy President and Chief
Operations Officer Adel Al Redha under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin
Zayed Al Nahyan.
Al Redha said: "The Emirates Group is proud to be
recognised with the Platinum Impact Seal for the second consecutive cycle, and
this award reaffirms and demonstrates our continued commitment to advancing
sustainability and introducing innovative practices across our businesses. We
recognise our responsibility to support and participate in solutions that
contribute to the aviation’s environmental challenges, therefore we continue to
focus on making progress and taking an active role where we can have a positive
outcome: through practical environmental practices and projects, support for
our communities, sound governance, and partnerships across our ecosystem aimed
at practical solutions, in line with the UAE's national priorities."
The recognition highlights the Emirates Group’s
Environmental Sustainability Framework, which focuses on reducing emissions,
responsible resource consumption and protecting wildlife and habitats.
Over the past year, Emirates’ fuel-efficiency programme
saved more than 98,000 tonnes of fuel and reduced carbon emissions by over
312,000 tonnes through operational improvements.
The airline also expanded its use of Sustainable Aviation
Fuel (SAF), procuring more than 28,000 tonnes in 2025–26, while partnering with
ENOC Group to strengthen SAF supply at its Dubai hub.
Other initiatives included installing nearly 40,000 solar
panels at Emirates Engineering Centre, introducing upcycled products from its
aircraft retrofit programme, recycling inflight service materials and donating
thousands of school bags made from repurposed aircraft fabrics.
Ground services provider dnata also advanced its
sustainability agenda by increasing alternative fuel use by 89% year-on-year,
expanding renewable energy adoption and electrifying more than 17% of its
global ground support fleet.
Nearly half of dnata’s operational waste was diverted from
disposal during the 2025–26 financial year.
The award coincided with the launch of the UAE Companies for
Good 2031 Strategy, aimed at strengthening private sector contributions to the
country’s sustainability and impact economy. -TradeArabia News Service
