Dubai airport receives first flight from Tehran since February

A commercial passenger flight from Tehran landed at Dubai International Airport on Monday, marking the first direct air service between the Iranian capital and the UAE's busiest airport since flights were suspended following the recent Iran-US conflict.

The FlySepehran aircraft departed from Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport and touched down in Dubai at 1.18pm local time. A return service to Tehran was scheduled to depart later in the afternoon, signalling the gradual restoration of one of the Gulf's key regional air links, said reports.

The flight's resumption was reflected on Dubai Airports' schedule and tracked by flight monitoring service FlightRadar24. FlySepehran's booking system currently shows limited services on the route, with the next Tehran-Dubai flight scheduled for Wednesday, followed by another the following week, suggesting operations are being restored cautiously, said a The National report.

Air links between Iran and several neighbouring countries were disrupted after the outbreak of hostilities between Iran one side and the US and Israel on the other.  The conflict forced the closure of Iranian airspace for several days, prompting widespread flight cancellations and rerouting across the Middle East. Although Dubai International Airport remained operational throughout the crisis, airlines adjusted schedules as regional security concerns intensified.

The resumption of Tehran-Dubai flights follows the ceasefire that has largely halted the fighting, although tensions in the region remain high. The reopening of the route is expected to benefit business travellers, tourists and thousands of people with family ties between Iran and the UAE, one of the busiest aviation corridors in the Gulf before the conflict.

In Tehran, Ramin Kashif Azer, Chief Executive of Imam Khomeini Airport City Company, confirmed that the Tehran-Dubai route had been reactivated after a temporary suspension.
