Three Dammam Airports advance in Carbon Accreditation

Dammam Airports Company (DACO) announced significant progress in environmental sustainability as its international airports received certifications under the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Programme by Airports Council International (ACI).

King Fahd International Airport advanced to Level 2 accreditation, up from Level 1 in 2024, reflecting ongoing improvements in emissions measurement and management, as well as the adoption of more advanced carbon footprint reduction policies.

Meanwhile, Al-Ahsa International Airport and Al Qaisumah Airport joined the program at Level 1, becoming part of Saudi Arabia’s network of airports committed to globally recognised emissions management standards.

DACO said the achievement underscores its commitment to environmental sustainability through the adoption of best global practices and standards, supporting the Saudi Civil Aviation Environmental Sustainability Program (CAESP), Saudi Vision 2030, and the Saudi Green Initiative.

Saudi Arabia aims to reduce carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by 278 million tons annually by 2030 and contribute toward net-zero emissions by 2060.
DACO affirmed its commitment to the environmental sustainability path as a strategic pledge to both the environment and the community.

The company is working to expand green spaces through its participation in the “Our Airport is Green” initiative, the first of its kind in the Middle East, which allows travelers to plant a digital tree and track its growth via digital technologies.

The initiative has already resulted in the planting of over 100,000 trees within airport grounds, alongside projects to improve energy efficiency and promote innovations supporting sustainability across the company's airports. -TradeArabia News Service
