Saudi Arabia to set up new tourism info centre

RIYADH, November 30, 2014

The Saudi government is planning to set up a tourist information centre to provide increased and more accurate information to local and foreign tourists, said a report.

This is part of a strategy of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) to revive domestic tourism, reported the Arab News.

The SCTA is working with the Ministry of Interior on the new information centre, which will also be linking service sectors that cater to tourists visiting the country.

As per the new plan, the commission will issue classification certificates to the hospitality sector, and tourism jobs, with special attention on specialisations, stated the report.

Also the tour operators' scope of work will be widened to include services like leasing of vehicles and transportation for tourists, accommodation and insurance, it added.
