The eleventh edition of the region’s biggest summer event, Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) will kick off on June 19 with a colourful ceremony at the Dubai Dolphinarium in Creek Park in the presence of over 800 people.

The high-profile event will feature extravagant settings along with shows of exceptional standards that will be broadcast live on Sama Dubai TV.

Unveiling the big plans for summer festival, at a press conference held in Dubai Dolphinarium,  Ibrahim Saleh, general co-ordinator of DSF Office, said, Dubai Dolphinarium would be the venue for the most amazing show that Dubai has witnessed - a unique concept, an outstanding fusion of light and sound effects along with the astonishing skills of the friendly dolphins and sea lions.

'For 40 minutes, the 800 invitees in Dubai Dolphinarium along with the viewers of Sama Dubai TV will be mesmerized by this demonstration of international standards orchestrated by the well known French Director Michelle Tuito,' he noted.

'Our show also has a message. Conceptualizing on the Greener community direction adopted by the Government of Dubai, DSS aims to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and marine life to make our planet a better place for future generations,' Saleh observed.

The show also coincides with the World Environment Day that the whole globe celebrated a few days back,” he added.

Ahmed Abdul Kareem, director of Public Parks and Horticulture Department, Dubai Municipality, pointed out that Dubai Dolphinarium was one of its initiatives in the continuing efforts to highlight environment related issues and the necessity for sustainable development in the future. 'This facility is among the most modern edutainment destinations in Dubai today.'

“Dubai Dolphinarium is just one of a series of quality entertainment projects embraced by Dubai Municipality that will come up in Dubai Creek Park. As a member of the DSS Organizing Committee, it is our endeavour to enhance and enrich the experience of visitors and residents in Dubai not only through events but by providing recreational and world-class public utility services that match the status of a vibrant city like Dubai,” he added.

Christopher Richardson, managing director of Dubai Dolphinarium, described the Dolphinarium as an edutainment destination of remarkably high standards.

'We are extremely delighted to be associated with DSS for the opening ceremony. As a venue catering to all visitor categories, the Dolphinarium relates very much to DSS events that provide entertainment to visitors of all ages and segments,” he opined.

Christopher also added that all morning shows for the week, in addition to shows scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday would be cancelled due to the preparations for the Dubai Summer Surprises opening ceremony.

Michael Touitoh, the event director, explained some of the elements incorporated into the DSS Opening Ceremony and emphasized the inclusion of spectacular special effects for the show.
