RCU signs up Alstom for premium AlUla Train project

The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has signed a partnership deal with Alstom, a specialist in the field of sustainable transport, to provide vehicles and systems for the AlUla Train Project. 
 
Scheduled for launch in 2027, this project aims to provide a unique and immersive experience that combines the rich heritage, culture, and natural beauty of the region.
 
One of the primary objectives of the AlUla Train Project is to promote sustainability in transportation. By reducing congestion on roads and diminishing noise levels, it seeks to improve the overall transport system, reported SPA.
 
The trains will operate on sustainable electricity and effectively connect heritage sites, providing a tourism experience that highlights the exquisite natural environment. 
 
The partnership was sealed at the Future Investment Initiative (FII7) forum in the presence of Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Engineer Saleh Al Jasser and CEO of the Royal Commission for AlUla Amr Zidan.
 
With a 22.4-km-long line comprising 17 stations, the project will feature 20 trains, further emphasizing the RCU's dedication to sustainable transportation.
 
"As one of the core projects in the RCU's Journey Through Time Masterplan, it plays a pivotal role in transforming AlUla into a global destination for arts, heritage, culture, and nature, in line with the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030," said the minister.
 
In collaboration with the esteemed international transport company, Systra, the AlUla Train has been meticulously designed to offer luxurious tours encompassing the region's most prominent features, reported SPA
 
It will link AlUla International Airport to five major historical regions, granting passengers an exceptional visual experience that showcases the transition from oases to the captivating desert. This design is a testament to the RCU's innovative spirit and unwavering commitment to sustainable transport, it added.
