New French hospitality management college opens in Bahrain

MANAMA, September 28, 2018

Bahrain's new hospitality management college, "Vatel", was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, on September 27, on occasion of World Tourism Day.

The opening ceremony was attended by the chief executive officer of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, and key officials including the Ambassador of France to Bahrain, Cécile Longé, GCC Ambassadors and parents of the admitted students.

“The launch of Vatel Bahrain represents a cornerstone in the development of the kingdom’s hospitality sector. The BTEA, in collaboration with Vatel Group, aims to train the national workforce in accordance to international standards, as well as provide students with the qualifications required in order to obtain job opportunities,” said Al Zayani.

“We are delighted to announce the launch of Vatel School which will provide students with comprehensive learning experiences through its four-year academic programme. Students will be matched with jobs that meet their academic qualifications to utilise their expertise and knowledge,” said Shaikh Khaled.

“We are proud of this collaboration with Vatel Group which comes in line with the BTEA’s strategy to further develop the skills of nationals within the hospitality and tourism sector, further contributing to boosting the national economy in line with the kingdom’s 2030 Economic Vision,” he added.

Vatel currently has 29 schools, 7,000 students and over 29,000 alumni who are a living proof of the success of its unique teaching concept, further positioning the school as the first worldwide Business School Group in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

The first Vatel School opened in Paris with a unique and fundamental educational method: having theoretical courses followed by a professional experience using what had been learned in class. Each Vatel School has a restaurant or hotel on the campus where students could test their knowledge through professional application with customers.
