Wataniya Airways warned over flight delays, cancellations
KUWAIT, August 29, 2018
Kuwait's Wataniya Airways has come under fire from the country's aviation authority following recurring delays and cancellation of flights, said a report.
According to state news agency Kuna, the Kuwaiti Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has warned the airline that its permit may be suspended for three months, starting September 6, if it fails to fulfil its duties properly.
The warnings came on Sunday (August 26) after a number of airline passengers were left stranded on Saturday (August 25) in Istanbul, Baku, and Sarajevo over lack of flights.
The DGCA ordered Wataniya Airway to fulfil its financial and liability commitments towards passengers otherwise " it will be stripped of its licence permanently".
The aviation authorities have vowed to ensure passengers their safety and rights and enable them to return home, either on Wataniya Airways flights or on board other planes.
