Salalah Rotana Resort inaugurates an organic garden

SALALAH, March 29, 2018

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and constant effort towards embracing sustainable practices, Salalah Rotana Resort recently inaugurated an organic garden within its premises.

An initiative developed to meet the needs of its daily operations, the garden occupies 500-metre space and houses four types of produces including tomato, mint leaves, cucumber, and radish. To facilitate the germination process, seeds were initially planted in a box and grown for 15 days after which they were transferred to the garden area.

Hossam Kamal, general manager of Salalah Rotana Resort, said: “We are committed to creating initiatives that have a positive impact on our environment. The garden amongst other actions depicts this. Not only will this garden service our kitchen operations, we anticipate it to serve as a cost-saving initiative and encourage other hotels to do the same.”

Salalah Rotana Resort’s effort reinforces the Rotana corporate sustainability initiative; Rotana Earth which, has been developed to address environmental, economic and social issues. With its continuous imprint of community and environmentally driven projects, Salalah Rotana Resort engages in different activities such as Beach Cleaning, fundraisers, Inter School Recycling competition, tree planting with colleagues, developing an in-house plant nursery, distribution of Iftar meals to labour workers during the holy month of Ramadan and more. - TradeArabia News Service
