AMMAN, February 27, 2018

During the first month of the year, Jordan's Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed a total 624,207 passengers, marking a significant increase of 8.2 per cent in year-to-year passenger numbers in comparison to the same period last year.

According to a report by Airport International Group, QAIA also registered 5,672 aircraft movements (ACM) in January as as opposed to 5,819 ACM in January 2017, effecting a 2.5 per cent year-on-year drop. Meanwhile, cargo figures increased by 14.8 per cent as QAIA handled 8,074 tons of cargo compared to 7,036 tons during the same month.

“We are delighted to kick off the year by welcoming more than 620,000 passengers, the highest number of January passengers in QAIA’s 35-year long history. We aim to see 2018 be yet another successful year to add to our repertoire, as we implement strategies that will improve our services and bolster our operations so that we may continue to maintain QAIA’s standing as Jordan’s prime gateway to the world,” said Airport International Group CEO, Kjeld Binger. - TradeArabia News Service
