UAE mulls flights reroute
DUBAI, January 24, 2018
The UAE is planning to reroute its flights to Bahrain to avoid Qatar’s airspace, a report said.
The UAE has accused Qatari fighter jets of “intercepting” two Emirati passenger planes en route to Bahrain a week ago and has since filed a complaint to the UN, said a report in sister publication Gulf Daily News.
The decision to reroute follows a recent order to the the UAE air force to "not escalate' a civil aviation dispute with Qatar.
The UAE said Qatari fighter jets had flown within 1.2km of two flights descending towards Bahrain International Airport, drawing a swift denial from Doha, the report said.
