Dubai Airports prepares for busiest December to date

DUBAI, December 14, 2017

As the festive holiday season draws closer, Dubai International is celebrating with an array of promotions and seasonal activities, including Winter Wonderland DXB, as it prepares to welcome as many as 8 million passengers during the month of December.

Predicting the busiest travel days to coincide with the closure of schools in the UAE for the holidays, the airport is encouraging those flying between December 15 and 23 to reach the airport with plenty of time to spare, and this year there is even more reason to do so. Following on from the Early Birds campaign launched in the summer, this festive period will also offer passengers amazing discounts on activities, services, dining and quick bites through all terminals. Passengers can claim three free vouchers by searching for ‘EarlyBirdsDXB’ on Facebook Messenger and chatting directly with Santa.

For those travelling from Terminal 3, the brand-new Winter Wonderland DXB is the perfect way to get in the festive spirit just moments before jumping on a plane. An instagrammable village scene set right in the middle of Concourse B (Terminal 3), with entertainment for children and adults, visits from the main man in red on his sleigh and taking centre stage, a 14 metre tall Burj Khalifa made of gingerbread.

“December is one of the busiest months of our year, on some days there will be more than 250,000 passengers travelling through the three terminals. This means we have two priorities, to manage the operational flow of these hundreds of thousands of passengers, and that they all have an enjoyable and memorable experience at DXB, said Anita Mehra, senior vice president of Communication & Reputation at Dubai Airports. “The addition of the Winter Wonderland DXB for 2017 is an exciting one, we have a Bounce trampoline park, and festive themed food and drinks. It is sure to keep passengers, both young and old, entertained and delighted, as well as creating a really festive atmosphere in the entire airport.”

Staff levels will be augmented during peak periods and airport operational teams will use the latest sensor technology to constantly monitor passenger flows, allowing staff to be deployed quickly to avoid delays and long queues.

There are additional smart travel tips passengers can follow to make their journey even easier. Online check-in, or using the self-service check-in kiosks and making use of the bag drop counters makes the first step a lot quicker and encouraged for those savvy travellers who pack light. UAE nationals residents can also use the smart gates, enabling them to avoid queuing at passport control and travel through quickly and efficiently with their Emirates ID. - TradeArabia News Service
