Etihad gives six-year-old 'pilot' an unforgettable experience
ABU DHABI, October 18, 2017
Six-year-old Adam Mohammad Amer, who surprised pilots onboard an Etihad Airways flight with his in-depth aviation knowledge, finally got the opportunity of a lifetime.
Etihad Airways invited the little boy to become a pilot for a day, and allowed to "fly" the Airbus A380, the world's largest passenger plane.
The little kid, who is of Egyptian-Moroccan origin, was discovered by the crew on a flight from Morocco to Abu Dhabi during a random cockpit visit. Amer surprised the pilots by giving detailed procedural accounts of aircraft operating systems and demonstrating a deep understanding of emergency procedures.
The six-year-old was dressed in a specially made pilot uniform and given the chance to experience flying an aircraft at its training centre.
Captain Majed Al Marzouqi, Etihad Airways vice president Flight Operations, said: “Seeing Adam’s enthusiasm reminds me of my own as a young boy, with dreams of becoming a pilot. It really is a wonderful opportunity for us to engage with the children of our community."
"Adam shows incredible intellect and knowledge, having learned complex operational procedures from YouTube videos. I hope he has enjoyed his day in the life of a pilot and that it encourages him to pursue his passion when he is older.” - TradeArabia News Service
