Lufthansa to terminate Qatar flights

BERLIN, September 14, 2017

German carrier Lufthansa has announced plans to discontinue its flight service to Qatar from October, a report said.

According to Karsten Zang, senior director Gulf at Lufthansa Group, the route was found to be "commercially not viable" despite substantial sales efforts, a report in Flight Global cited him as saying.

Lufthansa started flying the route Frankfurt to Doha in May 1993 and currently operates a daily routing of Frankfurt-Kuwait-Doha-Kuwait-Frankfurt.

The last flight from Doha via Kuwait to Frankfurt will take off on October 27 from Hamad International Airport.

All existing bookings will be re-protected and therefore will be rebooked within the coming days. Effected customers will be informed and rebooked directly. Lufthansa will exercise maximum flexibility for possible cancellations/refunds to existing bookings, the airline said.
