A significant number of tourists from Europe, Turkey and the US will be visiting Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, this month as it gets ready to host 'Expo 2017' from June 10, under the theme of "Future Energy."
Being held in a Central Asian country for the first time, the event is expected to attract 115 countries and 22 international organizations as participants as well as 5 million visitors.
The exhibition is an important international platform for the future of sustainable energy and a magnet for new technology, as well as a great opportunity for young scientists to present their unique ideas.
Rapil Zhoshybayev, Kazakhstan’s National EXPO 2017 Commissioner, said: "Each country participating in the exhibition is trying to develop the theme of the Astana exhibition in the field of renewable energy sources."
China will present the history of its energy development with the help of interactive 3D techniques and showcase its "artificial sun" - a model of fusion reactor established by Chinese scientists, while Korea will showcase smart networks, fuel cell vehicles, and advanced energy-saving solutions.
Other countries like the Netherlands will offer 3D projection, 3D technologies and sound effects to tell the history of its state-of-the-art technologies and advanced innovations and UK will introduce graphene, a material of the future that could significantly change the methods of power generation and consumption.
Germany will show modern electric cars and smart homes that generate more energy than they consume; Switzerland will offer environmentally friendly homes using new technologies; Romania will introduce the world's fastest laser; and Thailand will introduce renewable energy technologies using agricultural waste.
On the international events accompanying the exhibition, Zhoshybayev said a number of major international and cultural events will be organized during the exhibition. Along with the official opening ceremony of the 2017 exhibition, the SCO summit will be held.
Zhoshybayev expects a large number of delegations and tourists to arrive.
