Etihad Museum announces launch of Family Pack

DUBAI, May 18, 2017

Etihad Museum has announced that it will be launching a special Family Pack in celebration of International Museum Day on May 18, providing children with a range of fun and educational activities to complete as they discover the museum.

The Family Pack is the latest in a series of educational programmes that have been launched by Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) – the emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, and the Authority managing the museum’s daily operations.
 
The activities in the Family Pack include treasure hunts, drawing projects, investigation tasks, quizzes and other engaging challenges – all of which will stimulate curiosity and creativity to help children learn about UAE history and the inspiring Founding Fathers in a memorable way. Creative workshops being hosted at the museum as part of the Family Pack include ‘Desertscape’, ‘Painting with Chai and Qahwa’, ‘Sun Exposure Paper’, ‘Textures of the UAE’ and ‘Dallah Sculpture’, where children will be encouraged to take inspiration from objects in the museum and UAE culture to create unique artworks.

The workshops will run from May 19 to 20, and children will also be invited to participate in storytelling sessions that shed light on UAE history and support the National Reading Strategy 2016-2026.
 
By taking children on a unique visitor journey, the Family Pack promises to strengthen their national pride, enhance visits to the museum and provide a fun day out for the whole family. Families using the self-guided packs will find that the Etihad Museum is an enriching and enjoyable place to share stories, spend quality time with loved ones and understand historical objects in a new light. The Family Pack is suitable for children of all ages and will be available later this month in both Arabic and English for any family visiting the museum.
 
Abdulla bin Massam Al Falasi, director of Etihad Museum, said: “Our Family Pack has been launched in celebration of International Museum Day and designed by education experts to bring the nation’s story and heritage to life. It offers children and families a new and engaging way to enjoy all that the museum has to offer. The Etihad Museum is not only an important national and touristic landmark but also a crucial historical source for a young Emirati generation, so we are fully committed to enhancing the educational aspects of the museum for children. To achieve this, our Family Pack will also be complemented by a range of creative workshops and storytelling sessions that aim to create a living and welcoming museum experience for all visitors.”
 
The Etihad Museum tells the story of the 1971 Union Agreement through the eyes of the Founding Fathers, giving visitors valuable human insights into this pivotal era of UAE history. By celebrating the dedication, commitment and patriotism of the Founding Fathers, the museum invites individuals from all walks of life to follow their shining example in nation building.
The museum is open from 10:00 am to 08:00pm, seven days a week and in celebration of in celebration of International Museums Day, the museum will welcome visitors on Thursday free of cost. - TradeArabia News Service
