Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay joins Earth Hour

DUBAI, March 21, 2017

By spending an hour in the dark this Saturday (March 25) on the occasion of Earth Hour 2017, Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay, Dubai, will join millions around the world to send a powerful message about a brighter future for the planet.

Earth Hour is a worldwide event that encourages individuals, communities, households and businesses to switch off non-essential lights for one designated hour, and will be observed on March 25 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

In order to create environmental awareness, the external signage and façade lighting will be switched off for an hour, as will the shimmering lobby chandelier lights. The energy consumption per guest room is 0.628 KWH per hour, including television units and lighting. Switching these off for an hour would equal to the saving of energy used to produce approximately 14 gallons of water, the hotel said.

Joining the rooms division is the F&B team, which includes all restaurants - Brothaus, The Backyard, Swim & Tonic and Bayside Restaurant & Terrace. Charming candle lights and table LED lights will replace artificial lighting at these outlets from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm in support of this global initiative. Adding a special touch, The Backyard will serve flaming cocktails at special rates, that will brightly ignite the darkness.

The experts at The Spa have designed a special Earth Hour Package which will be available on March 25 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm only. Inspired by elements of the earth (Oud sea salt and coffee), this treatment includes a Natus Body Scrub with back and shoulder massage to calm and ground your senses. The 60-minute treatment is priced at Dh395.

“Our commitment in environmental protection and conservation resonates through our entire team. We will be taking an energy reading of the full hotel to gauge the energy saved during Earth Hour. We are proud and humbled to be part of this worldwide campaign and will always work towards a brighter future for our planet”, says Stephen Meredith, general manager at Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay, Dubai.  - TradeArabia News Service
