Music legend Tom Jones to open Emirates Dubai Jazz Festival

DUBAI, December 13, 2016

Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival has confirmed that music legend Sir Tom Jones will be headlining the opening night of its 15th anniversary celebration on February 22, 2017.

The highly-anticipated event, which will take place at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, also earlier revealed that the best-selling female artist of all time, Mariah Carey will be performing on February 23; and the biggest Latin recording artist in music history, Enrique Iglesias, will take to the stage on February 24.

With a successful career that spans over five decades, Sir Tom is a well-loved icon who continues to have a vital recording and performing career to this day.

In 2012, he performed at the Queens Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace and amongst a very successful touring year in 2014, he had the thrill of performing at the MCG in Melbourne for the AFL Grand Final, the premier sporting event in Australia, alongside Ed Sheeran. Later in the year, he appeared at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit concert, sharing the bill with Florence + The Machine, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Brian Wilson and others. In 2015, Sir Tom continued his role as Coach on the fourth series of The Voice UK, working alongside will.i.am, Rita Ora and Ricky Wilson.

Other highlights of his long career include receiving a Brit Award for Best Male and Outstanding Contribution to Music, a Silver Clef Award for Lifetime Achievement, the Hitmaker Award from the [US] Songwriters Hall of Fame, GQ Man of The Year, and the prestigious [UK] Music Industry Trust Award.
