Saudi airports to get US visa pre-clearance facility
JEDDAH, October 27, 2016
Saudi travellers to the US will soon be able to complete all immigration procedures at Riyadh and Jeddah airports prior to their departure, a report said.
According to a report in Saudi Gazette, the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is looking to set up a visa pre-clearance facility at both the airports to allow easier processing of passengers’ arrival documents.
Passengers will then be able to check their baggage through to their final destination in the US, and on arrival, will be treated as domestic passengers, the report said.
Presently, Abu Dhabi International Airport is one of only a handful of airports in the world that offers the CBP facility.
It has been reported that 615,478 passengers used the US pre-clearance facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in 2015.
