Bahrain showcases beauty of the sea
MANAMA, October 21, 2016
Bahrain Bay in Manama is now bubbling with activity following the unveiling of a new attraction that showcases the kingdom’s rich link to the sea.
The Sea Festival brings several Bahraini sea-related traditions and cultural activities under one roof, with a thrilling ‘Underwater Simulator’ that gives visitors an almost-lifelike feel of exploring the underwater world and displays on the history of pearl diving and other sea-related handicrafts.
The event was launched on October 20 under the patronage of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).
Present at the launch were BTEA CEO Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa; Arab Tourism Organization president Dr Bandar bin Fahad Al Fuhaid; Bahrain Bay CEO Gagan Suri; and a large number of visitors.
Commenting on the launch of the Sea Festival, Al Zayani said: "We are delighted to witness the continuous BTEA efforts aimed at promoting Bahrain as a touristic destination and forming its unique identity by organising and hosting special activities and events similar to the ‘Sea Festival’.
"We look forward to more events to attract visitors and contribute to the growth of the local tourism sector which will in return add to the country’s GDP," he added.
"The festival provides a unique experience to visitors as it explores the sea-related industry that showcases the past using modern technology in order to preserve it for the future generations. We also look forward to receiving visitors coming to Bahrain and to provide them with exciting activities and competitions," said Shaikh Khaled.
Visitors will also enjoy exploring the virtual and augmented reality simulators, learn about the history of pearl diving through a multimedia photo gallery display, videos and authentic diving equipment. There are also thrilling water sport shows and activities, dhow and boat displays, live entertainment and an array of food and beverages.
The ‘Sea Festival’ will run until October 29 at Bahrain Bay, from 4 pm to 10 pm. Entrance fee is priced at BD2. – TradeArabia News Service
