Saudi Arabia has announced the opening of its first indoor snow theme park - Snow City - which has been constructed on a 5000 sq m area in Al Othaim Mall Rabwa in capital Riyadh at an investment of around SR100 million ($26.6 million).
   
The Snow City represents a vast leap for the tourism industry in the kingdom. It offers brilliant innovations and stylishly designed ice huts that feature breathtaking views and bright colors, offering more comfort and pleasure to all visitors.

Moreover, an events and celebration venue has been designated at the site, including a series of popular restaurants to satisfy all tastes, said senior officials at the opening.

Its launch has opened a new chapter in the leisure and tourism industry of Saudi Arabia and is seen as a huge leap in achieving the kingdom's tourism potential, they added.

The first-ever Snow City was inaugurated by Prince Faisal bin Bandar, the governor of Riyadh, in the presence of several top ranking government officials and the executives of Al Othaim Holding.

Snow City was introduced by Al Othaim Leisure & Tourism Company in the presence of Fahd bin Abdullah Al Othaim, the deputy chairman of the Al Othaim Holding board; Saleh bin Abdullah Al Othaim, the VP of Al Othaim Leisure & Tourism Company; the French Ambassador and other business leaders from the region.

Speaking at the launch, Al Othaim said: "We are thrilled to launch Snow City - the first comprehensive snow attraction in the kingdom. This exciting new tourism destination is a demonstration of the company’s commitment to offering visitors and consumers the best in family entertainment that is comparable to indoor theme park venues in the region and the world."

Snow City, which boasts an hourly capacity of 350 people, is also host to various entertainment activities offered to visitors, including 12 different activities such as a panoramic suspension bridge, ice bumper cars, sledge and ski zone, rope courses, climbing wall, snowmobiles, and many others.
