Abu Dhabi airport to add new fee

ABU DHABI, June 15, 2016

Passengers transiting or departing Abu Dhabi airport will be charged Dh35 as a new fee, said a report.

The new fee will come into effect from July, said a report in Gulf News.

The announcement comes just two months after Dubai and Sharjah airports introduced similar charges for passengers.

The 'service fee' will apply to most passengers departing and transiting the emirate’s airports, the report said.

Like Dubai and Sharjah, the fee will not apply to passengers under the age of two, those transiting on the same flight number and airline crew.

Abu Dhabi Airports will collect the fee from airlines, it said.
