Downtown Rotana moves ahead in Bahrainisation push

MANAMA, May 31, 2016

Downtown Rotana, the new five-star property in Manama, is pushing ahead in its efforts to recruit locally with Bahrainis making up 17 per cent of its total staff base, which is 2 per cent more than the national quota.

The company’s focus to recruit nationals mirrors the government’s efforts in developing the local tourism and hospitality industry and building the next generation of local experts to carry this sector forward.

The recruitment strategy is being guided by the Rotana Group’s ‘Duroob’ programme; a nationalisation scheme committed to by all Rotana properties across the Middle East and North Africa, aimed at developing and nurturing the local workforce and integrating them into the private sector by offering increased opportunities in the hospitality industry.

Lilian Roger, general manager of Downtown Rotana said: "It goes without saying that there is no better people to run the tourism and hospitality sectors in Bahrain than the locals themselves; they know their country, embody the culture and can convey the warmth and hospitality that Bahrain and the Rotana brand pride themselves for. From our end, we are here to offer the right stepping stone and growth opportunities to advance their careers in Bahrain’s booming industry which, we have no doubt, will continue to thrive as the country pushes ahead with its strategic growth plan".

“We have already recruited a higher percentage of Bahrainis (17 per cent) than the national quota, working in mainly administrative positions at Downtown Rotana as well as the Front Office, Finance, HR, Engineering, Kitchen, Events and Sales. We are seeing a growing interest locally in the hospitality industry fueled by the government’s drive to grow the luxury hospitality offerings in the country and make this sector more appealing; our vision is to support the national initiatives every step of the way by attracting and training ambitious young talent in-house and developing industry-specific skills. We have rolled out a comprehensive development plan to integrate as many Bahrainis as possible across all areas of hospitality, such as Restaurants, Materials and Housekeeping, to name a few,” Lilian said.

Boasting refined elegance across its premises, Downtown Rotana offers 249 upscale rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows, panoramic city views and vibrant interiors, all fully equipped with ample in-room amenities and conveniences. The hotel also brings four new dining concepts to Bahrain’s bustling culinary scene with award-winning ‘Teatro Downtown’ taking centre stage as its signature restaurant. A choice of leisure facilities include a rooftop swimming pool, a Bodylines Fitness and Wellness Club with professional instructors and a fully-equipped gym, as well as a sauna, steam-room, Jacuzzi and treatment rooms, all comforts of five-star living.
Downtown Rotana embraces the needs of the corporate world with its seven state-of-the-art meeting rooms and a spacious, elegantly-designed ballroom with over 300+ capacity and ample car park facilities for 211 cars. - TradeArabia News Service
