Air Arabia flight diverted after smoke alert

SHARJAH, March 17, 2016

An Air Arabia flight from Sharjah, UAE, to Taif in Saudi Arabia was diverted to Riyadh after a smoke indicator alert in its cargo compartment.

As a precautionary measure and in keeping with safety standards, the flight crew diverted the flight (G9185) and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated on landing at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, an airline statement said.

On inspection of the aircraft, no fire was detected.

"We regret any inconvenience caused. The safety of our passengers and crew remains Air Arabia’s highest priority. All necessary arrangements are being made for our customers to continue their journey,” the airline said. - TradeArabia News Service
