New beach resort for Burj Al Arab
DUBAI, January 20, 2016
Burj Al Arab, a luxurious hotel and the flagship property of Dubai-based Jumeirah Group, is set to get its own exclusive giant beachside resort that will boast 32 beach cabanas, 400 sun loungers and two swimming pools, said a report.
A global first in resort hotel design, the Burj North Deck has been designed by marine construction experts Admares at a shipyard in Finland with high environmental standards in mind, reported The National.
An exclusive man-made beach, Burj North Deck will boast a sun deck bigger than a football pitch.
The novel structure featuring six steel sections weighing 5,000 tonnes is currently being shipped to Dubai. Once here, it will be lowered by crane onto 90 piles that are already in place on the Gulf seabed, stated the report.
It is planned to be in place next month, and will be open for guests of the Burj Al Arab in the second quarter of this year, it added.
The deck has been custom-designed by the Finnish specialists in high-specification cruise ships and yachts. Because it was built off-site, there has been minimal disruption to hotel guests, said the report citing Anthony McHale, the general manager.
Till now the guests at the hotel, billed as the world’s only seven-star establishment, had to make a trip across the causeway to use their own dedicated beach near the Jumeirah Beach hotel.
“We are hugely excited about its arrival - North Deck is a true reflection of Dubai’s own ambition to provide the most outstanding experience for guests visiting and living in Dubai,” he added.
