‘Shop Bahrain’ attracts visitors to the kingdom

‘Shop Bahrain’, the largest event of its kind in the kingdom, has attracted a vast amount of visitors and shoppers since its launch on December 24, 2015, to take part in the various events and activities available for the entire family.
The launch event, which took place in Seef Mall, Seef District drew shoppers and mall visitors who enjoyed a unique shopping experience combined with the sounds of authentic songs performed by the well-renowned Moroccan singer Asma Lmnawar.
‘The Taste Tour’ that was held at Block 338 encouraged visitors to try the most delicious sampler dishes presented by the participating restaurants in Adliya. A number of well-known social media influencers also took part including Saad Al Dulijan and Hisham Al Howaish and others that presented the multicultural aspect of the kingdom such as traditional souqs, and the modern tourist attractions.
The largest outdoor ice-rink in the region also opened its doors with the launch of the festival which instantly witnessed a huge interest as it received more than 10,000 visitors coming from Bahrain and abroad. While the market that surrounded the ice-rink provides the opportunity to local businesses to showcase their products to a larger audience.
This year’s edition involved the participation of 18 malls and more than 2,000 retail outlets that attracted more than 32,000 shoppers and the participating retail outlets achieved over BD5 million in sales and more than 10,000 instant scratch and win prizes were given to shoppers up-to-date.
The ‘Family Fair’ event also took place at Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Park in Hidd during the New Year’s weekend to introduce them to the festival and its events. The event included many activities and a live performance on New Year’s Eve by the well-known Bahraini artist Hind. The festival’s first weekly raffle draw also happened during the event where a number of winners were announced and won valuable prizes including two cars, gold coins, air tickets, and electronic devices.
Nawaf Al Koheji, project director, said: “We ensured that our preparation for this year’s edition would make it bigger and better than the first. This is being done by hosting more events and activities that attracts shoppers and visitors locally and regionally. Our efforts are evident in the data and positive figures obtained on both the economic and tourism sector and we look forward to more remarkable results by the end of this edition.”
‘Shop Bahrain’ aims to mirror the kingdom’s position as an accessible and welcoming destination for families and visitors from across the region by providing a distinctive shopping experience filled with special offers and entertainment. ‘Shop Bahrain’ is the largest nationwide festival with a unique 30-day celebration of Bahrain’s heritage, hospitality and tourism offering the entire family running until 23 January.
