Top European airlines start Dubai operations
DUBAI, December 20, 2015
Two major European airlines - Dutch flag carrier KLM and Lufthansa's long-haul budget carrier Eurowings - have started their debut flights to Dubai International, the world's busiest airport for international passengers.
KLM launched its operations on Thursday with a Boeing 787-9 service to Dubai International’s Terminal 1 from its hub Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
The inaugural flight, which reached Dubai at midnight, was welcomed with a traditional water salute, said a statement from Dubai International.
With this launch, the passengers flying on the Dubai-Amsterdam sector can now enjoy Boeing’s newest aircraft, it stated.
German carrier Eurowings took off on its inaugural flight from the German city of Cologne and landed at the Terminal 2 in the early hours on Friday.
The Lufthansa's low-cost wing will operate three non-stop flights between Dubai and Cologne every week, with the possibility of onward flights to Berlin or Hamburg, and many other locations in Europe.-TradeArabia News Service
