RJ raises breast cancer awareness through 'Think Pink’ day
AMMAN, October 25, 2015
Royal Jordanian, in collaboration with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, hosted “Think Pink” day at its headquarters in Amman.
The event was part of the annual awareness campaign “Stay in my life… get screened”, which was organised by the Jordan Breast Cancer Programme (JBCP).
“Think Pink” day was held in order to help increase awareness about the benefit of early detection of breast cancer, which increases survival rates up to more than 90 per cent.
Female employees were invited to benefit from a lecture given by one of the top educators and staff nurses working for the JBCP, Latifeh Zuhdi, who said: “The main objective of the programme is to decrease the rate of death resulting from breast cancer through early detection and screening”.
She highlighted the symptoms of breast cancer and the risk factors that increase the possibility of being affected by the disease, and the screening tests women should perform.
Zuhdi also stressed the importance of regular screening and explained the mechanism of monthly self-examination of breasts and answered to attendees’ queries, at the same time handing out awareness flyers.
Since the beginning of October, RJ has been displaying items promoting this campaign at its gift shop at the head office in Amman. RJ employees and visitors can buy these items, the proceeds of which will go to covering cost of screening of underprivileged women.
RJ’s participation in the campaign comes as part of its social corporate responsibility role and is a great supporter of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Centre in the fight against cancer, the airline said in a statement. – TradeArabia News Service
